A pedorthist is a practitioner specialised in footwear. After a medical prescription, the pedorthist will examine the patient (taking measurements, scans and moulds). He or she designs, tests and adapts special equipment (such as replacement equipment following amputation) as well as orthopaedic shoes and insoles to enable patients to adapt and return to active life.
